    Federal ministry of agriculture and rural development (FMARD

    Federal ministry of agriculture and rural development Is an acronym of FMARD. Federal ministry of agriculture and rural development has the authority to ensure food security in crop in a country, livestock as well as fisheries to stimulate agricultural employment and services to the national and promote the production and supply of raw materials to agro industries and to  provide markets for the production of the industries sectors, generate foreign exchange as well as help rural socio-economic development”

    Responsibilities of  federal ministry of agriculture and rural development FMARD

    The ministry is responsible for various roles involving national goals of rural development, food security, rural income growth and job creation

    The ministry fulfills its responsibilities through its departments and parastatals. It also supervises and provides funding for research institutes such as the National Root Crops Research Institute, National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI), National Veterinary Research Institute (NVRI) the Rubber Research Institute of Nigeria (RRIN) and Colleges of Agriculture and Forestry among others. The Rubber Research Institute of Nigeria (RRIN) is situated in IYANOMO VILLAGE, off Benin/Sapele Highway, Benin City, Edo State.

    History of federal ministry of agriculture and rural development FMARD in Nigeria

    Prior to Nigeria’s independence in 1960, the agricultural sector served the as the purpose of growing and exporting cash crop produce to the United Kingdom to support the development of the British industrial revolution era. During the period, agricultural processing was minimal but there was sufficient commodity output for consumption in the domestic economy.

    Federal ministry of agriculture rural development (FMARD) was Created in 1966 and had passed through a serial modification of appellations to suit the prevailing climes of mergers and demergers with related sectors. All the same, the adjustment enabled the Federal Government to play a leading role in promoting agricultural activities in the country

    Power and Authority of federal ministry of agriculture and rural development (FMARD)

    Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development FMARD) is a Ministry of the Federal Government of Nigeria that has the mandate to ensure food security in crops, livestock and fisheries, stimulate agricultural employment and services promote the production and supply of raw materials to Agro- allied industries, provide markets for the products of the industrial sector, generate foreign exchange and aid rural Socio-economic development throughout Nigeria.

    Duty of FMARD

    Federal ministry of agriculture and rural development (FMARD)  duty is to Organize and manage the agriculture sector and facilitate agribusiness for increased food security and employment along commodity value chains and agro-industrial development to earn foreign exchange and contribute to socio-economic development of the country.
